천천히 갑시다. let us go slowly

저는 천천히 하는 것의 중요성을 나이가 좀 들어서야 깨닫기 시작했습니다.

요리를 해보니 천천히 오래 시간을 들이지 않으면 맛이 안나는 음식들이 있습니다. 사골국은 원래 가난한 사람들이 먹을 것이 없어 뼈를 끓여 먹던 음식인데, 지금도 너무 좋은 음식입니다. 며칠을 끓여야 합니다. 시간이 많이 걸립니다.

운전도 급하게 하던 편이었습니다. 하지만 지금은 천천히 운전하는 것의 즐거움을 깨닫습니다. “사실 어제 도착했어야 했는데 아직 길에 있습니다”라는 노래 가사가 참 아름답습니다. 가는 길의 아름다움은 고향에 가는 즐거움을 한층 더해줄 뿐입니다.

공부하는 것도 어떤 것들은 너무 어려워서 잘 이해가 되지 않고 진도가 잘 나가지 않습니다. 그러나 하루 한 페이지 꼭 공부하다 보면 어느새 여기까지 와 있음을 발견합니다.

우리는 어떤 때 서두릅니까? 욕심이 많을 때, 또 절박할 때 우리는 서두릅니다.

하지만 하나님의 방식은 그와 다릅니다. 하나님은 우리의 어리석음을 잘 알고 계십니다. 시간을 갖고 가르치지 않으면 변하지 않는 우리의 모습을 잘아십니다.

천천히 갑시다. 하지만 천천히 하려면 헛된 것들에 시간과 에너지를 낭비하지 말아야 하고, 미리 준비되어 있어야 합니다. 더 지혜로워야 합니다.

I began to realize the importance of going slowly only after I had grown a little older.

When I started cooking, I learned that some foods simply do not develop their flavor unless you take time and cook them slowly. Sagol-guk,

bone broth, was originally a food of the poor—made by boiling bones because there was little else to eat—yet even today it remains a wonderful dish. It must be simmered for days. It takes time.

I used to drive in a hurry as well. Now, however, I have discovered the joy of driving slowly. The lyric, “Driving down the road I get a feeling that I’ve should been home yesterday” is very beautiful. The extended journey only deepens the joy of arriving home.

The same is true of studying. Some subjects are so difficult that they are hard to understand, and progress feels painfully slow. Yet if I study even one page a day, I eventually realize that I have come much farther than I expected.

When do we rush? We rush when we are greedy, and we rush when we feel desperate.

But God’s way is different. God knows our foolishness well. He knows that unless He teaches us patiently, over time, we do not truly change.

So let us go slowly. But to go slowly, we must not waste our time and energy on what is empty and meaningless. We must be prepared in advance. We must become wiser.
