사랑이 나의 동기가 되고 있는가? Is love the motivation behind what I do?

성경은 끊임 없이 우리의 판단과 가치관에 도전합니다.

내가 원하고 성취하고자 하는 일들이 하나님의 뜻과 다른 경우가 많음을 보여주기도 합니다.

이런 갈등이 일어나는 것은 우리가 세상 속에 살기 때문입니다. 그 안에서 하나님의 자녀로 부르심을 받았기 때문입니다.

그래서 우리는 세상 속에 살지만 세상에 속하지 않았다는 사실을 기억할 필요가 있습니다.

이 긴장감이 우리로 하여금 끊임 없이 고뇌하게 하고, 자신을 돌아보게 하고, 삶의 방향을 재설정하게 합니다.

저에게 그런 긴장감을 갖게 하는 가장 큰 화두는 사랑입니다.

과연 내가 이 일을 사랑으로 하고 있는가, 사랑이 나의 동기가 되고 있는가 하는 질문입니다.

우리의 마음 속엔 사랑이 아닌 것들도 참 많습니다: 시기, 자랑, 교만, 무례함, 이기심, 분노…

이런 것들이 마음의 동기가 되지 않도록, 나를 움직이는 동력이 되지 않도록 돌아보고 확인할 필요가 있습니다.

The Bible constantly challenges our judgments and values.

It often reveals that what I desire and strive to achieve is not aligned with God’s will.

Such conflicts arise because we live in the world, yet have been called to be God’s children within it.

That is why we must remember that although we live in the world, we do not belong to the world.

This tension compels us to wrestle inwardly, to reflect on ourselves, and to reset the direction of our lives.

For me, the greatest theme that brings such tension is love.

Am I truly doing this out of love? Is love the motivation behind what I do?

These are the questions I must ask.

Within our hearts, there are many things that are not love: envy, boasting, pride, rudeness, selfishness, anger…

We need to examine ourselves and make sure that such things are not the driving force behind us, that they do not become the power that moves us.
